1. Royal Air Force Group Photo

This intriguing photo, taken in 1919, was first published in 1975 by Sir Victor Goddard, a retired R.A.F. officer. The photo is a group portrait of Goddard's squadron, which had served in World War I aboard the HMS Daedalus. An extra ghostly face appears in the photo. In back of the airman positioned on the top row, fourth from the left, can clearly be seen the face of another man. It is said to be the face of Freddy Jackson, an air mechanic who had been accidentally killed by an airplane propeller two days earlier. His funeral had taken place on the day this photograph was snapped. Members of the squadron easily recognized the face as Jackson's. It has been suggested that Jackson, unaware of his death, decided to show up for the group photo.

2. The Lady of Bachelor's Grove

This photo was taken during an investigation of Bachelor's Grove cemetery near Chicago by the Ghost Research Society (GRS). On August 10, 1991, several members of of the GRS were at the cemetery, a small, abandoned graveyard on the edge of the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve, near the suburb of Midlothian, Illinois. Reputed to be one of the most haunted cemeteries in the U.S., Bachelor's Grove has been the site of well over 100 different reports of strange phenomena, including apparitions, unexplained sights and sounds, and even glowing balls of light.
GRS member Mari Huff was taking black and white photos with a high-speed infrared camera in an area where the group had experienced some anomalies with their ghost-hunting equipment. The cemetery was empty, except for the GRS members. When developed, this image emerged: what looks like a lonely-looking young woman dressed in white sitting on a tombstone. Parts of her body are partially transparent and the style of the dress seems to be out of date.
Other ghosts reportedly seen in Bachelor's Grove include figures in monks' clothes and the spirit of a glowing yellow man.

3. Cowboy Ghost or Mysterious Stranger

Terry Ike Clanton took this photo of his friend at Boothill Graveyard. The photo was taken in black and white because he wanted Old West-looking pictures. Clanton took the film for developing and when he got it back was startled at what he saw. Among the gravestones, just to the right of his friend, is the image of what appears to be a thin man in a dark hat. By height, the man appears to be either legless, kneeling... or rising up out of the ground.
"I know there was no other person in this photograph when I shot it," Clanton insists. And he believes the small figure in the background is holding a knife. "We thought this was a tie at first, but after further review, it appears to be a knife," Clanton says. "The knife is in a vertical position; the tip is located just below the figure's right collar. If you're not convinced that something is weird here, look at my friend's shadow in the photo. It appears to be going back slightly to the right of him. The figure in the back should have the same shadow, but it doesn't!"

4. Spirit in the Woods

This photo was taken by Reverend R.S. Blance at Corroboree Rock near Alice Springs, Australia in 1959. In the woods with branches in front of her appears to be a transparent women. If a photo like this was taken today one would likely think that it was a fake ghost picture created in Photoshop, but Photoshop didn’t exist in 1959. Double exposure is also unlikely given how visible the areas in front and behind the women are.

5. The Fire Girl

On November 19, 1995, Wem Town Hall in Shropshire, England burned to the ground. Many spectators gathered to watch the old building, built in 1905, as it was being consumed by the flames. Tony O'Rahilly, a local resident, was one of those onlookers and took photos of the spectacle with a 200mm telephoto lens from across the street. One of those photos shows what looks like a small, partially transparent girl standing in the doorway. Nether O'Rahilly nor any of the other onlookers or firefighters recalled seeing the girl there.
O'Rahilly submitted the photo to the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena which, in turn, presented it for analysis to Dr. Vernon Harrison, a photographic expert and former president of the Royal Photographic Society. Harrison carefully examined both the print and the original negative, and concluded that it was genuine. "The negative is a straightforward piece of black-and-white work and shows no sign of having been tampered with," Harrison said.

6. The Back Seat Ghost

Mrs. Mabel Chinnery was visiting the grave of her mother one day in 1959. She had brought along her camera to take photographs of the gravesite. After snapping a few shots of her mother's gravestone, she took an impromptu photo of her husband, who was waiting alone in the car. At least the Chinnerys thought he was alone.
When the film was developed, the couple was more than surprised to see a figure wearing glasses sitting in the back seat of the car. Mrs. Chinnery immediately recognized the image of her mother ? the woman whose grave they had visited on that day. A photographic expert who examined the print determined that the image of the woman was neither a reflection nor a double exposure. "I stake my reputation on the fact that the picture is genuine," he testified.

7. Monk in Church

This photograph was taken in 1963 by Reverend K. F. Lord at Newby Church in North Yorkshire, England. It has been a controversial photo because it is just too good. The shrouded face and the way it is looking directly into the camera makes it look like it was posed a clever double exposure. Yet supposedly the photo has been scrutinized by photo experts who say the image is not the result of a double exposure.
The Reverend Lord has said of the photo that nothing was visible to the naked eye when he took the snapshot of his altar. Yet when the film was developed, standing there was this strange cowled figure.
The Newby Church was built in 1870 and, as far as anyone knows, did not have a history of ghosts, hauntings or other peculiar phenomena. Those why have carefully analyzed the proportions of the objects in the photo calculated that the specter is about nine feet tall!

8. His favourite chair

The photo shown here is the famous “Lord Combermere Photograph”, which was first published in 1895. It gained almost instant fame among psychic researchers and remains a mystery to this day.
The photo was part of an account by Miss Sybell Corbett who took the photograph in December 1891 while staying with her sister at Combermere Abbey in Cheshire, England. The photo was actually taken of the splendid library of the house and the camera was placed with a long exposure of about one hour, details of which were carefully noted in her photographic diary.
Although no one was in the room at the time of the exposure, the developed plate showed the head, body and arms of an older man, seated in a high-backed chair to the left side of the room. The photo was shown to a relative of Lord Combermere and she announced that if did resemble the man. However, not everyone agreed about this. Regardless, the features of the man are hard to distinguish.
The strangest thing about the photo was that, at the time it was taken, Lord Combermere was attending a funeral at the local churchyard in Wrenbury, a few miles away. The funeral was his own! Lord Combermere had been killed a few days earlier in a road accident in London. As mentioned, the photo caused quite a stir and attracted the attention of Sir William Barrett, an investigator for the Society of Psychical Research. He experimented with a similar photo process and then first dismissed this photograph as an unintentional mistake. He surmised that a servant had entered the room while the shutter of the camera was open, sat down in the chair and then left, leaving behind a faint, and rather “ghostly” image.
After further investigation though, Barrett reconsidered. He later learned that the image did not resemble any of the servants in the house and that all of the male servants had been away attending their master’s funeral anyway. He confessed to being perplexed and the photograph remains mysterious today.

9. Brown Lady

This portrait of "The Brown Lady" ghost is arguably the most famous and well-regarded ghost photograph ever taken. The ghost is thought to be that of Lady Dorothy Townshend, wife of Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount of Raynham, residents of Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England in the early 1700s. According to stories, she was a lady who was locked in a room and was not allowed to see her children. She eventually died. Her ghost was captured on film and according to experts, the photo is authentic. According to one of the first people who has spotted her ghost, she appears to be a noble woman in a brown satin dress. Her face glows; her eye sockets empty. It was rumored that Dorothy, before her marriage to Charles, had been the mistress of Lord Wharton. Charles suspected Dorothy of infidelity. Although according to legal records she died and was buried in 1726, it was suspected that the funeral was a sham and that Charles had locked his wife away in a remote corner of the house until her death many years later.
In September 1936, a photographer, Mr. Indre Shira, was commissioned by Lady Townsend of Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England to take a series of photographs of the house for “Country Life” magazine. Shira and his assistant were just setting up their equipment for shots of the grand staircase when the photographer saw what he described as “ a vapoury form which gradually assumed the shape of a woman in a veil.”
The figure slowly began to ascend the stairs and, very excited, Shira took a hasty photograph. The assistant however, was amused by his employer’s excitement, maintaining (even afterward) that he had seen nothing on the stairs. In fact, he admitted that he thought Shira was delusional.
He changed his mind after the plate was developed though and saw the phantom outline of a human figure on the stairs. Experts who examined the plate were puzzled and agreed that the image was not the result of any form of trickery.
Author and researcher Thurston Hopkins also studied the photo and he too declared it genuine. “It may well be the most genuine ghost photograph we possess,” he added, “and no study of the supernatural is complete without a reference to it.”

10. Stairway to afterlife

Rev. Ralph Hardy, a retired clergyman from White Rock, British Columbia, took this now-famous photograph in 1966. He intended merely to photograph the elegant spiral staircase (known as the "Tulip Staircase") in the Queen's House section of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. Upon development, however, the photo revealed a shrouded figure climbing the stairs, seeming to hold the railing with both hands. Experts, including some from Kodak, who examined the original negative concluded that it had not been tampered with. It's been said that unexplained figures have been seen on occasion in the vicinity of the staircase, and unexplained footsteps have also been heard.

11. Tudor Castle Ghost

This remarkable image first appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times (12-21-03) and was apparently captured with a closed-circuit security camera at Hampton Court Palace in London, England. The palace was built in 1525 on the River Thames 10 miles west of central London and was one the the places that King Henry VIII lived. Jane Seymour, his third wife, died there giving birth to a son, and her ghost is said to walk through one of the cobbled courtyards carrying a candle. No one seems to know what this ghostly figure represents but according to security, it sure looks like a ghost.

12. Sefton Church Ghost

Sefton Church is an ancient structure (started in the 12th century and finished in the early 16th century) in Merseyside, England, just north of Liverpool. This particular photograph was taken inside the church in September, 1999.
According to Brad Steiger's Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits and Haunted Places, where this photo was found, there was only one other photographer in the church beside the person who took this picture. Neither of them recalled seeing the ghost or any flesh-and-blood person standing there who could account for this image. Because the figure is all in black, it has been theorized that the apparition could be that of a church minister.
Reader Mark Tomlinson reports that a pub next door to the church, called the Punch Bowl, is said to be haunted by the ghost of a man in blue nautical garb, which has been reported there for many years.

13. Ghost in the Choir Loft

In 1982, photographer Chris Brackley took a photograph of the interior of London's St. Botolph's Church, but never expected what would appear on the film. High in the church's loft, seen in the upper right-hand corner of his photograph, is the transparent form of what looks like a woman. According to Brackley, to his knowledge there were only three people in the church at the time the photo was taken, and none of them were in that loft.
According to London Paranormal Database Records, "Mr. Brackley was later contacted by a builder who recognized the face of one that he had seen in a coffin in the church."

14. Ghosts of the SS Watertown

James Courtney and Michael Meehan, crew members of the S.S. Watertown, were cleaning a cargo tank of the oil tanker as it sailed toward the Panama Canal from New York City in December of 1924. Through a freak accident, the two men were overcome by gas fumes and killed. As was the custom of the time, the sailors were buried at sea off the Mexican coast on December 4.
But this was not the last the remaining crew members were to see of their unfortunate shipmates. The next day, before dusk, the first mate reported seeing the faces of the two men in the waves off the port side of the ship. They remained in the water for 10 seconds, then faded. For several days thereafter, the phantom-like faces of the sailors were clearly seen by other members of the crew in the water following the ship.
On arrival in New Orleans, the ship's captain, Keith Tracy, reported the strange events to his employers, the Cities Service Company, who suggested he try to photograph the eerie faces. Captain Tracy purchased a camera for the continuing voyage. When the faces again appeared in the water, Captain Tracy took six photos, then locked the camera and film in the ship's safe. When the film was processed by a commercial developer in New York, five of the exposures showed nothing but sea foam. But the sixth showed the ghostly faces of the doomed seamen. The negative was checked for fakery by the Burns Detective Agency. After the ship's crew had been changed, there were no more reports of sightings.

15. Myrtle's Plantation Ghost

Many ghosts roam the halls of this bed and breakfast, built in 1796 by General David Bradford. There have been ten murders in the house, plus at least one suicide. A frequent visitor is the ghost of Chloe, a former slave hung for murdering two little girls. General Bradford's son-in-law, Clarke Woodruff, cut off the black woman's ear for eavesdropping, and she took her revenge by mixing oleander into the children's birthday cake. Ghosts from the slave graveyard on the property still report for chores and the ghosts of the two children poisoned by Chloe play on the verandah. This photograph shows what many believe to be the ghost of Chloe seen standing between the two buildings.

16. From "That's Incredible"

A Toys 'R Us located in Sunnyvale, California was the scene of inexplicable events such as items falling off shelves, strange feelings by employees, cold spots and other strange paranormal happenings. The story made it's way to a television show called "That's Incredible" hosted by Fran Tarkenton, Kathy Lee Crosby and John Davidson. They contacted a local California psychic, Sylvia Brown and professional photographers to document a séance in the store. Using both infrared and high-speed film, a photographer from Alpha Labs took simultaneous pictures of the empty isle where Brown was attempting to contact the presence of Johnny Johnston, a young boy in love with a local girl. He bled to death after a farm accident and it's thought that his ghost now haunts the store's location.
One infrared shot taken clearly shows a young man leaning against a counter with his hands in his pockets. It did not show up on the high-speed film taken at precisely the same instant!

17. Headless Monks in Hull House

A black and white infrared picture taken at Hull House in downtown Chicago, Illinois by Dale Kaczmarek in November of 1980. This is enlarged blowup of the interior staircase of this most haunted house in Chicago. There was nothing visible to the naked eye when the photograph was taken but what appears are four distinct shadowy monk-like figures standing on the bottom four or five steps. The one directly in the middle appears to be dressed in monk's habit with his two hands together in prayer. There are two other figures to the left of the center monk and one to the right superimposed on the banister which apparently has no head!

18. Robert A Ferguson

This photo was taken on November 16, 1968 when Robert A. Ferguson, author of Psychic Telemetry: New Key to Health, Wealth, and Perfect Living, was giving a speech at a Spiritualist convention in Los Angeles, California. Faintly appearing next to Ferguson is a figure that he later identified as his brother, Walter, who died in 1944 during World War II. At first glance, this might seem to be a double exposure or some kind of darkroom trickery, but this photo is a Polaroid (one of several taken of Ferguson at the time), making any kind of hoaxing quite unlikely.

19. Haunted Bureau

This early 20th Century photo of a beautiful Queen Anne style bureau was taken at the request of a furniture dealer by Montague Cooper, a well-known and respected photographer of the day. Cooper was at a loss, however, to explain the transparent hand that appears to rest near the top of the bureau. Is it the ghost of a previous owner who was reluctant to let it go?

20. Message at Borley Rectory

This is a photo of the actual envelope on which was written a ghostly message to Marianne, one of the residents of Borley Rectory, reputed to be "the most haunted house in England." Shortly after moving into the rectory, Marianne found an old envelope with her name written on the back. In reply she wrote, "What do you want?" and then replaced the envelope. Later, a reply was written beneath: "Rest."

21. Borley Rectory Floating Brick

When Life magazine created an article on Borley Rectory - which reputedly was one of the most haunted houses in the world - in 1944, the photographer snapped this shot that appears to show a brick floating in mid-air.

22. The Faces of Belmez

On August 23rd, 1971, in the small Spanish village of Bélmez, a startling and unusual event began to take place. In the home of Maria Gõmez Pereira an apparition was forming on the kitchen floor. It was a human face.

23. Godfather's Pizza Ghost

Several unnerving instances of ghost and poltergeist activity were reported by the management, staff, and customers of the Godfather's Pizza restaurant in Ogden, Utah in 1999-2000, prompting an investigation by Utah Paranormal Exploration and Research (UPER).
Phenomena included:
The sighting of several spirits, including those of a man, a woman, and two boys
A jukebox that played by itself, even when unplugged
A tile floor that inexplicably bulged up as high as ten inches, then leveled itself; a later examination showed nothing out of the ordinary beneath the tile and the concrete was intact
As many as 40 fluorescent light tubes flew out of their boxes and smashed on the floor
Mysterious whistling was heard from the kitchen several times.
UPER's investigation found that the restaurant might have been built upon a very old pauper's field -- a cemetery for the poor. It also resulted in this photo, taken by Merry Barrentine, UPER's general manager, in 2000. This misty apparition was actually seen with the naked eye for a few seconds as it materialized in the middle of the room.

24. Spirit Ghost

The guy that originally posted this said that "something happened one day as my mother was taking pictures of airplanes departing the Dallas airport. As she took pictures of planes disappearing into the clouds her mind drifted to God and how he would appear one glorious day".
The next day she dropped the film off to be developed and soon received a call from the frantic clerk. He said, "Something strange has occurred. All the pictures developed perfect, except for one." (That is the picture you see here, taken in 1962.) Days later she heard from God. His message was: Go to Honduras, feed my children and I will provide all your needs. My mother has been a missionary in Honduras, Central America for over 35 years and she is still searching the clouds anticipating the Lord's return. Love, Her Son Rodney

25. Ghost in the Bushes

26. Ghost walking the stairs

27. Ghost in the clouds

A lady named Anita who grew up there, told that this picture of an approaching storm was taken in 1916 by a photographer just opening his shop one morning in Greensburg, Kansas. It is in the Kiowa County History book. Greensburg was destroyed by a tornado in May 2007.

28. Cemetery ghost baby

A woman named Mrs. Andrews was visiting the grave of her daughter in a cemetery in Queensland, Australia in 1946 or 1947. Her daughter Joyce had died about a year earlier, in 1945, at the age of 17. Mrs. Andrews saw nothing unusual when she took this photo of Joyce's gravemarker.
When the film was developed, Mrs. Andrews was astonished to see the image of a small child sitting happily at her daughter's grave. The ghost child seem to be aware of Mrs. Andrews since he or she is looking directly into the camera.
Is is possibly a double exposure? Mrs. Andrews said there were no such children nearby when she took the photograph and, moreover, did not recognize the child at all – it was no one she would have taken a picture of. She remarked that she did not believe it was the ghost of her daughter as a child.
Investigating this case, Australian paranormal researcher Tony Healy visited the cemetery in the late 1990s. Near Joyce's grave he found the graves of two infant girls.

29. Jinns

Muslims call this a "Jin". This was reportedly only seen when the film was processed. This is said to have been taken near the Hira Cave, Medinah, Saudia Arabia during Haj. Of note, according to Muslims, this is the same cave where the Qu'ran (5 verses of the Surah Al-Alaque were revealed to him) began to be revealed to Mohammed. The Cave is situated on mount Al-Noor on way to Mina near Makkah and its peak is visible from a great distance.

30. Coventry Spectre

On January 22, 1985, the Coventry Freeman organization were having a dinner event at St. Mary's Guildhall in Coventry, U.K. Everyone in the group had her or his head bowed in prayer when this photo was taken -- including a towering, mysterious figure standing top left. The strange cowled spectre appears to be wearing clothing much like a monk's frock from another time. Lord Mayor Walter Brandish, who was present at the dinner, said there was no one at the event who was dressed like that, and he could not explain the presence of the interloper in the photo.
St. Mary's Guildhall dates back to the 14th century and served as a prison for Mary, Queen of Scots.

31.Decebal Hotel Ghost

Authorities have warned people to stay away from the Decebal Hotel -- because construction was taking place on the 150-year-old building. What they didn't warn people about was the ghost. The spirit of a tall woman in a long white frock has long been reported at the spa. The hotel in Romania is rumored to hide ancient Roman treasure, and the ghost, it is said, appears to protect it from treasure hunters.
Only anecdotal evidence for this ghost existed until 2008 when 33-year-old Victoria Iovan snapped this photograph, which indeed seems to show the ghostly image of a tall figure in long white garb. "I photographed my boyfriend in the hotel," said Iovan. "Back home I was shocked to see another woman's shadow in the picture. She looked like a priestess in long white clothes."

32. Top Hat Ghost

"This is a picture of my nan and uncle taken in the 1930s," says Simon. "If you look to the right of them in the wooden shed, there is a man in a top hat holding something, and to his left a really evil-looking entity. My nan would never let anyone see this picture whilst she was alive. Also, when my uncle was a teenager he apparently found a skeleton under some slabs in the grounds of the house. What happened then I have no idea. The picture is 100% genuine and has just come to light in the family. It freaks a lot of people out that I have shown."- from Simon Barker

33. Ghost Soldier Devil's Den

Thought you might be interested in this picture we took leaving Devil's Den in Gettysburg this past summer. We never saw the person; we were just candidly taking pics with our digitals as we were leaving. We live in a haunted house and are familiar with orbs and ectoplasm. Just thought this was very interesting.- from Jeanie Brown

34. Caergwrle Bridge Ghost

Members of the Cheshire Paranormal Society took this fantastic picture on Packhorse Bridge, Caergwrle, Wales. Although this was just a random shot, orbs had been captured by the group already and several members felt uneasy at the time. It's believed a number of ghosts haunt this bridge possibly in connection with a former burial ground nearby, for which the bridge was the entrance. Very spooky!

35. Railroad Crossing Ghost

A strange legend surrounds a railroad crossing just south of San Antonio, Texas. The intersection of roadway and railroad track, so the story goes, was the site of a tragic accident in which several school-aged children were killed - but their ghosts linger at the spot and will push idled cars across the tracks, even though the path is uphill.
This photograph was made by daughter of Andy and Debi Chesney. She and some of her friends had been to the crossing to test the legend, and she took some photographs. Inexplicably, a strange, transparent figure turned up in one of the photos. "They had no idea that it was in the picture until the next day when I printed out the picture and showed them," said the Chesneys. "It was really freaky".

36. Evil Ghost

As you can see this thing is looking right at me....I had no idea I had company when this photo was taken....I took the photo myself of me to test out my new camera phone, i took this photo infront of a hallogen light heater in my lounge room and i was by myself, in all honesty I was being vain, it took me days to realise what was in the photo with me, all I knew is that I hated the photo and almost deleted it, there was also another image in another photo similar to this thing, but I accidently deleted it from my phone. I managed to get a friend to get a copy of this thing on disk....Since this photo was taken I have not had many violent attacks, I still get visits but Jesus takes care of me now....Demons do exist and I am living proof they do, I don't know how I survived, but I did for a reason. I don't care if people make fun of me or try to discredit me, this is real and this thing nearly killed me on a number of occasions and it nearly drove me to suicide....It did drive me to the Lord in the end and I am grateful. I work in mental health and the care industry and my profession chose me. I'm just a messenger too, unfortunately I'm not very computer savy so I don't really know who to tell my story to, hopefully somebody on your sight will listen. My attacks have also been witnessed by other people, they are happy to tell their story too. Michelle "R"

37. Ghost of the Seven Gables

While touring the historic House of the Seven Gables in Salem, Massachusetts, the birthplace of American author Nathaniel Hawthorne, Lisa B. snapped this remarkable photo. The ghostly image of a small boy seems to be in the shrubbery, peering over the wooden fence.
The most amazing part of the story of this photograph is that she subsequently did some research about Hawthorne and the house. While looking through a library, she came across one of Hawthorne's books, Twenty Days with Julian & Little Bunny by Papa. On the cover of that book is a portrait of Hawthorne's five-year-old son, Julian. And as you'll see on the photo at left, the portrait of little Julian bears a striking resemblance to the ghost in Lisa's photograph.

38. Wedding Day Ghost

This is a photo of my aunt's wedding day. The year was 1942, and the photo was taken with a box camera. On some of my feedback I'm told it's not really there! Well, I know it is. This picture has been passed down. Please give me some feedback. I would like too see what everone thinks. It was taken in Jasper, Alabama.- from Liz

39. Hull House Apparition

"I took this picture with my cell phone on a ghost tour in Chicago at the Hull House Muesem. My cell has no flash and I've never had any weird pictures with it before. Also, no one else was present in that area when I took the picture."
Note: It might be just a reflection. Perhaps there was glass or plastic between the photographer and the scene? You can see the large face of what I think is the photographer. The light upper right also seems to be a reflection. So the image of what appears to be an elderly man in (perhaps) period clothing and white shirt could be a reflection. But Erin says there was no one else around to reflect.
Even if it is a reflection, it does not rule out the possibility of a ghost. Many reseearchers believe that ghost images are more readily captured in reflective surfaces.
Erin responds: "I was standing outside the door taking the picture through the glass. I do have some that I am reflected in and you can tell it's me because I was wearing blue. So I'm positive the image on the stairs is not me. I also know that it was not anyone from the tour as it was hot, and everyone was wearing shorts and t-shirts. Plus, by the time I took that picture they had moved on to explore the garden."- from Erin Zinth

40. Ghost in Confederate Cemetery

This photograph was taken by a tourist visiting the Confederate cemetery near Carnton Mansion in Franklin, Tennessee. Nothing out of the ordinary was seen when the picture was taken however if you look to the upper right of the photograph, hovering in the trees appears to be a figure of man in uniform. Closer examination suggests him to be a Confederate soldier.

41. The Phantom Pilot

Mrs. Sayer and some friends were visiting the Fleet Air Arm Station at Yelverton, Somerset, England in 1987 when this photo was taken. They thought it would be cute to take a picture of her sitting in the seat of retired helicopter. No one, Mrs. Sayer insists, was sitting next to her in the pilot's seat... although a figure in a white shirt can clearly be seen sitting there. She told an investigator with the Society for Psychical Research that she remembered feeling rather cold sitting in that seat, even though it was a hot day. Other pictures taken at the same time did not come out.
Worth noting is that the helicopter was used in the Falklands War, but there is no information as to whether or not a pilot died in that aircraft.

42. Grandpa's Ghost

This photo was received from Denise Russell. Her sister took this photo of their grandmother in 1997. She was shocked when, years after the development, the image of their grandfather appeared on the photo.

43. Dead Old Lady in the Window

This is a photograph that was taken by a friends son. Adam was working for a roofing outfit from Tremont, Illinois Koch Construction. He snapped this photograph with his camera phone. The story he told me was that they were hired to roof the house by the new owners. According to him, the lady who lived there had passed away nearly three months before. They had been working on the house for two days and had seen no one there.

44. Photo clicked on Queen Mary

An older man was on The Queen Mary and took a photo of what he thought was just the vestibule. When he had the film developed he seen what appears to be a ghostly man walking. The older man is said to not like talking about the picture. He is sure there was no one in the hallway at the time the picture was taken.

45. Moundsville Prison Shadow Ghost

Really excellent and spooky picture taken by Polly Gear of the Mountaineer Paranormal group at Moundsville Prison, West Virginia of a shadow person. This eerie location dates from 1866 and was the home to many dangerous and dark elements of society including most recently Charles Manson. Murders, suicides, violence and executions all happened here. It is extremely paranormally active and as well as noises, voices and odors, shadow people have been seen all over the location. Is this one of them? I think so.

46. Hospital Ghost

"At an ICU in a hospital in Colorado, a nurse was testing her flash in the room with the lights off. Unknown date other then recently. Calendar is on the wall but not sure if it has the correct date on it."
The ghostly gentleman is actually looking directly into the camera. Shivers!

47. Ena Sharples' Ghost in the window

"I took this photograph at the Blackpool waxworks UK 9th August. It clearly shows a face behind my husband. The strange thing is that the photo was taken at the coronation street exhibit (long running UK soap) it shows the face of who I think may be Ena Sharples who died in the 1980's and was one of the original main characters. Since researching her I found that she died in Blackpool and was buried there.
I have since sent the photo to the waxworks they are very interested in it and say that there would be nothing that could cause this face, i.e.... Reflection etc..."- Pauline Brannigan

48. Ghost Face Apparition

"My name is Ron Southwell and I have a weird photo that I would like your opinion on. It was taken with a brand new digital camera, Olympus model FE 210 with a brand new xd memory card. So I was playing with the camera settings and trying the candlelight setting. I was sitting on the couch about 5 feet from the subject and took the photo that I have attached to this email. It was night time and only a few of the lights were on in the room as well as the large screen tv which was directly infront of my subject about 12 feet away. The flash was used.
After taking the picture I checked it using the view screen and was kind of amazed to see another figure in the image in the lower left hand corner of the picture. It looks like a man’s face but I just have no explanation for how it got there. I had taken a few photos using the camera that day and then erased them from the memory but none of the photos were of a man’s face.
The face does not resemble anyone that was in the apartment. There was only myself and my sister in the room at the time and she was holding her 6 month old baby."

49. Apparition of a boy on the grass

This photograph was by Jackie Rhame of Florian, Alabama during a visit to a Six Flags Great America Amusement Park in Arlington, Texas. It clearly shows a semi-transparent figure of a little boy in the grass dressed in a red sweater with a white collar or shirt. The camera was a C- 126 and it was misting rain and humid outside. She was simply taking a picture of the Texas Giant.

50. Café Phantom

"These are four pictures I took in quick succession at a café near my house. I'm a photographer and was taking pictures for artistic purposes when I captured these. I remember taking these photos, but do not remember anyone or anything walking or otherwise passing past the lens. I was left with the impression, in fact, that they would be unimpressive and that they'd be deleted (though I waited, as usual, until later to assess my work).
They were taken without a flash with a Canon Rebel XTi (fps 5), a shutter speed of ¼ of a second, and without a tripod (though I was sitting still in a chair). After consulting a couple of other photographers about the photo, I have yet to come up with an explanation. It was noted that the motion blur on the figure suggests movement to the right though the figure went left. There also appear to be features suggesting a face in the third frame, though there are clearly no such markings in the first or second. It's also noteworthy that everything else in the photo (including the two girls behind the figure, one of whom was talking and – between the second and third pictures – had moved her hand) is in perfect focus.
Taking all this into consideration, we concluded that the figure, whatever it is, seems to be twisting – fast and continuously - in a counter-clockwise direction and that it covered about 8 or 9 feet of space doing this in 1.8 seconds (given the shutter speed and fps speed of the camera). This without I, nor the two girls at the table, nor my friend (whose elbow is in the bottom left hand corner) noticing.
I have all four of the originals. They were taken in RAW format on a digital SLR and thus have saved the most information possible to have a record of for each of these four photographs (including the color information).
Please let me know what you think. It looks like a ghost, smells like a ghost…does it sound like a ghost to you?"- from Jodie McNamara

51. Witchy Woman

This photo was captured in May of 2002 when I had several friends over for a visit... We were all gathered in my kitchen in another area other than the kitchen table which this particular photo was captured.. It was taken by my son who was age 6. We had no clue that there was another soul around other than me, my friends and son until we had this 35mm shot developed and witnessed this head that seemed to sit upon the surface of the table... Note how there is nothing there to support the images head, seems to be just hovering above the surface

52. Ghost of kid in a home photo

This picture was taken by a group of friends during a house party in a phone camera. The little girl crying in the picture kept complaining that somebody is pulling her dress. Everybody was astonished looking at the face of the kid appearing in the photograph when seen on a larger screen.
I have done some research and tests on the photo. My tests have shown that the image of the face is definitely part of the original photo and not added in afterward. The jpeg compression grid is aligned and consistent within the area of question. After applying various adjustments and examining each channel individually, I have come to the conclusion that the face is a real face, but belongs to a real person. There is plenty of room between the girls and the radiator behind them as is evident by judging the placement of the girls versus the television on the left. Also, the object is 100% solid as there is no pixel evidence of the radiator behind it. Note the small white spots along the bottom of the radiator, evenly spaced (highlights from the light above). Given the space between girls 2 & 3, there is relative room to see them. Lastly, the shade of shadow in that area is consistent with those seen on their jeans.
It is often people looking at their home photos that have caught the best evidence of paranormal activity.

53. TV Demon

"Would you like to see a picture of a ghost? I bought some candy teeth for my niece and nephew; they were pretending to be tigers. I took a picture of them and caught someone watching from the "turned off" TV set! You can just see the glow of the red standby light to prove it was off. It may take you a few seconds to see him, but once you do it will give you a chill. He looks dark-skinned and the left side of his face seems in shadow or missing. There is nothing in the room to cause a reflection on the screen. Even if there were, it would have to be large and close for him to appear so big. I found out later that an Aborigional man was held up in the house with the police outside. He shot himself in the head rather than be taken. If the picture is printed out on good photo paper and taken into the sunlight, you can see his yellow right eye looking straight at you."- from Reg Trevithick

54. Basement Apparition

"I recently got involved in paranormal investigations after having two experiences that I could never explain. I started doing research on my own and have become quite knowledgeable in things paranormal. About a month ago, I learned that one of my co-workers and his girlfriend moved out of her house 9 months ago because of paranormal activity, but due to circumstances beyond her control have to move back in. Needless to say, they're afraid of the house and asked me for help."
"Activity includes disembodied voices, blankets yanked off her kids' beds, footsteps, doors slamming shut, full-body apparitions and shadow figures. The phenomena was also witnessed by friends as well as her whole family for a span of about a year or so. I instructed her to take pictures throughout the house and said I would be there the next night."
"The morning before my first investigation, she emailed me a picture taken in her basement by her friend, and there appears to be an apparition on the stairs. It was taken at 10:30 in the morning and nothing unusual was noticed until she viewed the pictures after the fact. During my investigation, I captured the sound footsteps on the stairs where the picture was taken and three distinct laughs in an upstairs bedroom on a digital recorder. I saw a distinct shadow figure and had a bottle cap thrown into a room where I and several people were standing. At the conclusion of my investigation, I spread baby powder on the floor in the dining room and wrote my name about 12 inches across in the powder. I instructed the homeowners to stay away from the house and not let anyone go inside the house as another investigation was scheduled about a week later with the paranormal group I contacted."
"The day before the second investigation, the homeowner called to inform me that she went to the house to pick up a vacuum cleaner and noticed there were footprints in the powder. She assured me that no one had been in the house after we locked it up. A week later, I returned to the house and have on video knocks somewhere in the house responding to me and an overhead fluorescent light turning on by itself."
"I've enclosed a picture of the apparition on the stairs and you'll notice the top of the head partially covers a beam."

56. Mall Ghost in India

"This picture was taken by me, "ALOK", in the MMX mall in India after closing time. I am a staff member, so I need to work late at night. This picture was taken with my mobile phone (2 megapixel) around 1:30 a.m. An image of a man wearing a black coat and hat can clearly be observed on the left side of the picture.
I have never seen a man roaming the mall in this outfit, even in day time. Actually, you will hardly find anyone in this outfit in India. As I said, the mall was closed and only staff members of cinema operation were there. I took the picture of my friend at the food counter just for fun. This pic was taken in night vision mode."- from Naman Srivastava

58. What's that Looking in my Window?

"My girlfriend sent it to me one night, saying it's a picture of a friend of a friend."
Costiniuc also wrote that he knows where this guy lives, and "it can't be a peeping tom :)) he's at the 3rd or 2nd floor."

59. Ghost Boy in the Bathroom

"The photo was taken by my mother on Halloween day 1989 of me and my friend spray painting our hair before trick-or-treating," says Melissa. "We were 13 years old at the time. We didn't realize that there was a third person in the photo for quite some time -- years -- because we weren't looking for it. We considered the idea of a double exposure, but there is no overlapping on the picture and also we don't recognize the boy. He seems to be a young boy, maybe the around the same age as we were at the time. He's standing behind me and has dark poofy hair, and seems to be looking down or has his eyes closed. You can see his facial features clearly and it looks like he's wearing a t-shirt with writing on it. He's standing in front of the tub enclosure; you can see his hair blocking the chrome trim on the door, yet you can also see the towel bar on the shower door through him."
"It's very interesting, but unfortunately I have no answers for it. The house was built for my parents in the early 1960s, so I have no stories of a previous family living there. And like I said, nobody recognizes the boy in the picture. I'd love to hear your feedback. Does this qualify as a legitimate ghost photo? I'd love to have it analyzed or just receive somebody's professional opinion, like yours."- from Melissa

60. Stanley Hotel Child Ghost

"I was at the Stanley on a ghost tour," says George. "I came back with four orb pictures (which I can send you if you wish), and upon further investigation I have this one. I didn't notice it until I was on the plane home and zoomed in on all my Stanley pictures. I was shocked at first and have been showing it to people the past few weeks and been getting similar reactions of amazement to people saying it looked like a Cabbage Patch doll. Just thought you might have some ideas. At first I thought it was a dog, then after zooming closer, it certainly looks like an apparition of a little boy. If you look at the people on the ground they are so clear, when you look at the window it looks like a vision. You'll also notice there is no curtain or glass to distort the view; the window is open."
Could it actually be the face of a real little boy or doll? George contacted the Stanley Hotel staff about that possibility.
"I contacted the hotel to find out about the room," George says," and this is what they said:"
OK, the room number is 1211. Last Friday, there was a single man checked in that room who was part of a business conference.- from George Cassella

61. Crescent Hotel Apparition

My name is Brandon Alvis. I am the founder of the American Paranormal Research Association (APRA). We recently did an investigation of the historic Crescent Hotel in Eureka Spring, Arkansas. Myself and the co-founder of the group both saw something pacing back and forth at the end of the hall on the third floor. When I snapped a few photos, I caught a photo of interest.

62. Crescent Hotel Apparition

This was taken in August of 2005 at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. SPIRIT Seekers was allowed to come to the hotel for an investigation, and this is one of the pictures that we got. It was taken by Lori in the conservatory.- from Alan L. Lowe and Lori

63. Camp-Out Phantom

"Camping with my friends a few weeks ago," Mike says. "The head seems to be a small boy. It wasn't there when I took the photo. I can account for everyone in this photo (7 of us including me), but not the head."- from Mike Stewart
Unless this photo has been digitally tampered with, it's rather puzzling. It looks like a real face and seems too detailed to be pareidolia. What's odd about this ghost, if that's what it is, is that he is staring straight into the camera, as if he is posing, like the rest of the guys. Also, whether he is standing or even sitting, it seems that the lower part of his body would be below ground level. It looks as though he might have a white collar, meaning he is more formally dressed or from another era.

64. Chicago Bar Phantom

"My husband and I traveled to Chicago to see my sister graduate from college," says Brittany. "The night of graduation, we took her and her boyfriend out for some celebratory drinks. We spent most of the night in what I understand to be an old building, at a champagne bar called Pops For Champagne. In the photo, my husband and my sister's boyfriend were posing for a picture. We were all seated, there were no mirrors or glass of any kind near us. Lots of people were walking past our table, but when we reviewed our photos on the ride home, we could not get over what the figure behind the two boys. Why is it see-through when even the scenery behind it is opaque? If it was a person walking quickly, why is it transparent and not blurry? And what the heck kind of outfit is it wearing? It looks like a space suit."

65. Castle Child Ghost

Has this photograph captured the image of a child's ghost?
"This photo was taken in Scotland by some friends of my sister while they were touring an old castle," says Bill Eagan. "Look over the shoulder to the right of the people hugging. Best image at 200%. What do you think? Looks like a ghost of a small boy to me."- from Bill Eagan
I did some enhancing of the photo, Bill, and it's clear that there is an image of a child there. I didn't even see the head and face at first, just the arm, clothing and leg. I was rather surprised to see the child's face emerge from the enhancement.
(The original photo and the enhancement are shown in the animation above. I only enhanced the portion of the photo around the child, which gives it that pasted-in look, but it's not pasted in -- at least not by me.)
So is it a ghost? To me the child does look like he or she is from another era. In fact, it rather looks like a portrait. This makes me wonder if this is a double exposure. Were there portraits of this kind in the castle that possibly were photographed? If it's not a double exposure, it also could be a deliberate digital manipulation -- but Bill wouldn't do that to us, would you, Bill?
The third possibility, of course, is that it is a ghost phenomenon. Can you give us any more information, Bill?

66. Ghost in the Cubicle

"This is a group photo of me with my co-workers in the early 1990s at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. After careful inspection of the photograph, I noticed a face immediately to my left, also facing the camera. I asked the employee who occupies that office space behind us if she knew who this person was. No she did not, she replied. She also confirmed that she was not in her office that day the photo was taken; therefore, no one could have been in her office at any time. To this day, this phenomena remains a mystery."- from Melissa M. Maio

67. Alexandria Ghost Face

"I thought you and your readers might be interested in this photo I took over Thanksgiving weekend (2010)," writes Tara. "I live in Washington, D.C., and my mom and her boyfriend Joe came to visit me. We decided to take a tour bus to Mount Vernon (George Washington's house), and on the way back the bus stopped for a few minutes outside of Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia. This church is where George Washington worshiped, and in the yard of the church are some very old graves dating back as far as the late 1700s. Notably, the cemetery holds a mass grave of 34 Confederate prisoners of war who died in prison camps."
"While we were stopped in front of this church, I took this picture of Joe. To the left of his head you can very clearly see a red, floating, disembodied head! Joe thinks that this is just his own image reflected back and forth between the bus windows a few times, but I'm less sure. I think the image looks like a completely different man, and much older. There were very few people on the bus, and certainly no one who looked like that man. Perhaps it is just a distorted reflection of Joe, but it is no doubt a very spooky-looking image, particularly when you consider that it is looking out from a very old cemetery!"
- From Tara Marden

68. Backyard Phantom

"Taken in my backyard 12-06-09," says Patrick. "In the upper left-hand corner there seems to be a person who wasn't there. Zooming in on the face just makes it weirder."- from Patrick S. Heil

69. Kingston Window Ghost

"This photo is NOT a fake!" writes Chris. "My photos taken of the exterior of this house, presently for sale, caught the face looking out, at ME! Before I began taking my photos, I went to the door and knocked numerous times to make sure nobody was there. There wasn't... other than the residents who are haunting it.
"This house in Kingston, Massachusetts, was built in 1880, and through my ongoing research and me touring the interior has led me to believe this face is of a man between the ages of 18-30, and could very well be that of a Black, Southern Slave who fled to the North. Local history stated that there was Underground Railroad activity during the mid- to late 1800s in that neighborhood. I believe this 'face' was hiding in the home at that time. The windows in this home are very close to the floor, as if he was kneeling down, peering out... at me.
"I am hoping to find out more about this face and the other ghosts who still reside here, and the unexplained occurrences that have transpired since I took my first footstep in this beautiful house. I'm hoping to go back for more pictures... if these ghosts allow me."- from Chris

70. Angel helping

This angel or ghost picture commonly seen on the web was taken after an auto accident. The passengers in the car survived, which lead some to believe an angel assisted them.

71. Tall Ghost?

I live in Phoenix AZ, my husband took this picture with a disposable film camera on Halloween with me and my kids, when i got them developed at Walmart I noticed that half of the lamp behind us was covered, it was not when we took the picture so i asked to have it lightened, the developer hunted me down in the toy section to show me the lightened and enlarged picture, i was freaked, it looks like a black sheet is hanging from behind us like from i ceiling fan, i do not have a ceiling fan or anything on the ceiling for that matter, at the top of the picture is where you piss your pants, the face is something which i want to never know but i think we all have a good idea. the figure has a second body which is longer and continues into the next negative. I rushed home from Walmart and called my husband, not 5 seconds after i hung up all the lights in the house went out, i rushed into the garage to flip the breakers, when i returned into my house, i found my 3 year old son banging on the basement door (which i had locked previously for i have a baby that could fall downstairs if my 3 year old son opened it) i asked him why he wanted to go downstairs and he replied he wanted to talk to the tall man with the stick! I was shocked! We currently have moved out of that home for that reason, and now live in a new home near a church! LOL, i hope you will find this picture interesting...

72. Ghost(s) in my room

First, I'd like to explain that my name is Angela and I'm 18 years old. Since I was small, very strange things seem to follow me around. I could see things other people couldn't see, and my deja vous ended up becoming reality most of the time. Dabbling with the occult and psychic phenomena, I attracted more and more things to myself -- most unwanted. I remember laying on my bed, candles lit, and feeling a strange presence in my room. I casually asked, "so, who are you?" without expecting a response.
"Thomas." ...there was no one home to answer. Needless to say, I ran up back to Jesus, pronto.
Mom would always tell me not to play with fire, so to speak. She was an avid, zealous Christian. To her, it seemed like practically everything was the devil (and it's not far from being such). So, I tried to listen and I asked God that if this was a bad thing, to eliminate it from me at once, but if it would help him in some way, to let it stay. Though not as terrifying as it w as before, many of these "qualities" of me still remain. Who knows? Maybe I'll cast out demons some day.

73. Ghost?

The photo is 100% genuine. Taken on a 35mm pentex camera we still have the negative of the photo stated as before. We have staked our reputation on the photo many times. After scanning the photo into the computer at a very high resolution, much higher than the one I am sending. If you zoom into the face it has hair on the head and it has eyes. The eyes have pupils. The eyes are very angry and evil. The high-resolution file is over 40 Megs, too big to send to you. The one I am sending if you zoom in at the right depth you can still see the eyes.
The photo was taken in June of 1996. It was a birthday party for the little girl in the picture taken in a gym. That is all the information that I can give you about the photo at this time.

74. Poolside Ghost

Everyone thinks it is a statue near the pool at the end. But there is no statue. This is a ghost same one my son (6) and I saw in the house. Our house may be haunted and we believe on our property it’s a graveyard hundred years ago. we had to move out last Feb because it got worse and I had bad scratch on my legs. It is sad to see like this. The house is empty -Stacie

75. Ghostly Figure

Hello this picture was taken on my brothers cell phone in our grandparents rec room. My brother has no memory of taking the photo and no one else could of taken it.He just discovered it on his phone today. There were a few events that occured before this photo was taken. the first was my brother was asleep in his room alone when he awoke to the sound of his name being whispered in his ear 3 times. He never really thought anything of it until about 2.5 months later we were house sitting for my grandparents when on the 4 or 5th night my brother awoke in the middle of the night and could not move or speak and heard a deep voice which said about 2 sentences to him however he could not understand what the voice said to him. About 10 seconds after the voice stopped talking he could move again. Nothing more has happened since except this photo. What do you think this is? Any advice on what my brother should do since it seems he is the one being targeted. Thank you for yor time. - Tamara.

78. Tantallon Castle Ghost

The scary shot was unearthed during the biggest ever investigation into photographic evidence of ghosts. The picture, taken in May 2008, shows a spectral figure in fifteenth century dress peering out of a barred window at Tantallon Castle in Fife.

Ectoplasm (Psychic Photograph)

This photograph was taken with an old-styled Polaroid land camera in 1959 at a location on north Damen Ave. which no longer exists. It shows a real girl standing on the stairs and this strange mist-like substance which seems to be exuding from her stomach region and collecting along the entire stairway. Some parts are translucent while others seem visually opaque. This may be a psychic photograph; in other words ectoplasm being produced by a living person. Externalization of thought.
Additional new information: A recent email from the person in the picture sheds more light on this most unusual picture.
"My parents had bought a real old Mansion that had been turned into a roomy house at that time. The rooming house was located on Damen Ave across the street from Wicker Park in Chicago. There were all kinds of stories about things in that old Mansion. Someone had hung themselves in the basement a long time before we bought the Mansion. The basement had a dirt floor it was so old. The dress I was wearing was found in a old trunk in the basement. It had been left there by a women who did an old vaudeville act. My mother used to let me play with lots of old stuff that I found in that old building. There were secret passages, going from a room to another room. It was a very interesting place to live."

Unexplained Shining Strand in Cemetery

Agate Cemetery near Trout Creek, Michigan. Taken by John Cachel, GRS Patron Member, in the late evening on July 4, 1998. There was no one in the cemetery and it was about a half mile from the main road. The shooting light seems to make a curve to turn around the large tombstone. 35mm film taken at 1/360th of a second.

Ghost Mist near the Cannon in Gettysburg

This picture was taken by Chris Payne of Woodbridge, New Jersey at the Gettysburg National Battlefield in 1988. The camera used was a simple 110 Instamatic with a flash around dusk. Next to Terri Payne and by the wheel of the cannon can clearly be seen a strange bluish white mist. No other picture on the roll displayed anything similar in configuration. Closer examination seems to indicate a face within the fog. It was not visible to the naked eye.

Floating Globe in Graveyard

A floating orb in Mt. Thabor Cemetery, northern Illinois. This picture was taken with a Polaroid camera at about 10pm and shows a small orb apparently floating just above the ground near an old marble monument. The camera was pointed away from the roadway and any reflective surfaces.
Photo by Dale Kaczmarek, June 1998.

Brown Palace Hotel Ghost

"My wife and daughter were watching a Travel Channel special on haunted places in the US. The Brown Palace Hotel was one of the places that was documented on the program. We were going to Denver in June and my wife suggested that we check this place out. Well, me being skeptical and all said jokingly if we found the place maybe we could get a picture of an orb or something.
When we arrived in Denver on June 19, 2005 I picked up a rental car and asked where this Hotel was and they said pointing down the street at some flags that that was it. Now I was committed to going. I took 3 pictures outside and 12 pictures inside.
When taking the pictures I did not observe anything unusual. We got home on June 22 and before going to bed I downloaded all my pictures from my camera. I use a Kodak Easy Share CX6445 camera. We then viewed the pictures and to our amazement we saw the picture that I have sent you. I have no clue as to what this is. The ships in the window behind the object are not distorted and I do not believe it to be a reflection. The object goes beyond the window into the molding area at the bottom. The only conclusion I can come up with is that it is a GHOST!!! I now am a believer!"- Robert E. Brown

Fire in the sky

This picture was taken on a warm Sunny afternoon in July 1980 at Three Valley Gap which is located 12 miles west of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. The woman and her sister were standing in the motel park with a steep mountain wall behind them. Why is the mountain cut off vertically and what are the strange swirling lights in the sky? The camera was a Balda Folding Roll Film Camera, 120 size Kodacolor, 1/200 of a second at F- 11.
The woman and her sister were found to be dead later in the evening under unexplained circumstances.

Ghost apparitions on the grave

An SX-70 picture taken by a Ms. Sahah of Chicago, Illinois in November of 1982 at the gravesite of her grandmother who died in April of 1934 at the age of 83. It appears to be a double- exposure but this is long before that was possible with an SX-70 camera. In this model, the film exits the camera and develops in your hand in sixty seconds. There are two distinct figures in the fog; one of a girl in long brown hair apparently holding a black animal in her lap and an older boy with his left arm around her waist. His right arm actually trails out of the photograph towards the bottom center. He is wearing a blue t-shirt with some sort of writing on it.

Southern Oregon Ectoplasm of a Native American Ghost

"These pictures were taken with a Kodak DX4530 digital camera. Of nineteen pictures taken that day only two contained this anomaly. Strange occurrences happen often on our property including strange shadows, glimpses from the corner of your eye, and a feeling of paralysis with the sensation of a presence nearby. We live in an area of Southern Oregon which is rich in history of Indian occupation and many skirmishes with early white settlers.
I was checking out the April pics, when I came across the Oregon ghost pics. If you look in the right window (in the 2nd photograph), you can see a young girl/woman looking out - only her head and shoulders appear."- Kevin Plunkett (Photographer)

Ghost of a Guard at Fort Worden, Port Townsend, Washington

This real ghost photo was taken near the Guard House at Fort Worden, in Port Townsend, Washington, near Seattle on the night of April 4th, 2003. When this photo was taken, colorful orbs and sparkles appeared all around the photographer.
According to local legends, Port Townsend (near Seattle) is one of America's most haunted towns.
Local stories claim that a soldier was assigned to the Guard House, but the loneliness of the work began to bother him. Whether it was carelessness or something else, the despondent soldier accidentally shot and killed himself at the Guard House.
His ghost lingers there today, and manifests often.
In two investigations, the ghost was found to be a shy and sometimes angry ghost. This is the only clear photograph of him, taken during the investigation.

Ghosts lead to bones

In November, 2009, there were two separate cases in which ghosts may have led paranormal investigators to discover buried bones.
The first case took place in Wellsburg, West Virginia at a historic mansion. In early November, the Brooke County Paranormal Society was investigating the building when some of the members began to have strange sensations in the basement. "A couple of the psychics that were part of that group got physically sick when they went down there and they couldn't figure out why," building owner Gene Valentine told WTOV Steubenville. Following a "voice" into the basement, according to the news story, the team found a bone on the dirt floor. A little digging yielded many more bones that seemed to be "chopped up into pieces" and had traces of saw marks. At first it wasn't known whether the bones were human or animal, but an analysis by no less than the Smithsonian Institute determined that they were chicken, pig, horse and cattle bones. So obviously the voice of the ghost, if that's what is was, wasn't leading the investigators to his or her own bones, but it did lead to a peculiar, previously unknown burial. (Why were all those animal bones buried in the building's basement?)
The second case began on November 14 when Jim Boudreaux and brothers Benton and Frank Lavoi toured a house for sale in Gibson, Louisiana. They also happened to be members of the H.I.T. Men (Haunting Investigative Team), based in Southern Louisiana. Naturally, they took a lot of photos of the prospective home, but it wasn't until they were looking at the pictures on the way home that Benton's son noticed something unusual in one of them. (See photo above.) Near the rear of the home is a figure that looks like the upper torso of a man with "a pair of overalls draped atop his broad shoulders." Thinking this might be a ghost trying to tell them something, the men returned to the house a week later. Venturing into the basement, they too felt uneasy. And that's when they found the bones. And these were human bones -- more than 100 of them. They notified the authorities, who after an examination of the bones would determine whether or not the house should be considered a crime scene.- from H.I.T. Men

Stanley Hotel Spirit

"My brother and I just returned from a trip to Estes Park, Colorado," says Steve Santel. "During our stay, we visited The Stanley Hotel. On Friday, July 24th, I took a photograph in the Billiard Room that is nothing short of extraordinary. Visible through two windows leading to the adjacent room, there are two completely separate 'apparitions,' one viewed through each window. Both forms are very distinct and each shows facial features. The subjects are very different in size and shape, with one looking somewhat like smoke with arms and a face and the other resembling the shape of a human with slightly exaggerated features.
After doing some research on the internet, I've been unable to find anything else like this photograph. At this point, I'm not sure who to send it to for review. I tried the Ghost Hunters (T.A.P.S.) website, but my email was returned indicating their mailbox is full. I'm sure you get a number of emails like this and it's probably very difficult to discern fact from quack, but I assure you this is an authentic photograph. In fact, one of the subjects appears behind window panes, and even if something like that could be faked, I'd have no idea how to accomplish it.
"Our trip was planned to hike and climb in Rocky Mountain National Park. The only reason we went to The Stanley was because my brother promised to get his wife a souvenir there. It wasn't until I got home that the strange image was revealed while reviewing my photographs. At the time of shooting, I had no idea what the image had captured. It blew us away because I honestly didn't expect to see anything in the pictures other than hotel rooms and furniture. A few other shots seemed to contain 'orbs,' but those probably can be explained since they were the only two pictures I took with a flash. The subjects in the previously referenced photo have no explanation in my mind."- from Steve Santel

Roadside entities

"This picture was snapped while driving down a country road in East Texas," says Kathy. "Look at the figures standing by the road through the car window. They seem to be dressed in black and their faces and hands are white."- from Kathy Nephew
When I first saw this photo, I thought, "The Mole Men! They're back!" The Mole Men were subterranean humanoids who wielded a vacuum cleaner ray gun in the 1951 film Superman and the Mole Men, which later served as the pilot episode of the George Reeves The Adventures of Superman TV series. But that was a fleeting thought. It does look like three odd-looking entities standing back there. What are they? Ghosts? Phantoms? Aliens?

Ghost's Gentle Touch

"[My daughter] was outside with the girls when she decided to take a picture of the two to show the older girl how much her baby sister looks like her. T____ and her baby sister, taken January 9, 2009 in front of their house in Oklahoma. No one else was around them. They live in an old house in a little town. My daughter asked me the day after taking this picture if I noticed a ghostly hand on her shoulder. I said, "Yes! Something is there!" My daughter asked T______ if she felt anything on her shoulder and she said, "No, nothing." At the time the picture was taken, my daughter did not notice it. What do you suppose it is? Do you suppose it is there to harm them? It didn't seem like it since they have lived there for over two years."- from Ginger
It sure does look like a hand, but it does not look threatening. To me, it looks like a gentle, protective hand. It definitely seems like a loving gesture.

Arm on the left side

The two girls in shot where on there vacation in Eastwood City, MANILLA. They had taken hundreds of photos on there travels. But did not expect to find a third friend in this one photo. When asked about the mystery ghost in the picture both friends were adamant that there was no other person present for this picture.

Ghostly Apparition around a Patient

"Although due to patient confidentiality I cannot tell you where these photos were taken, I can say the these photos were captured from a digital video of a sleep study. The ghost enters from the right and exits stage left. To me they are incredible."- from John Prentice

Vapor-like Ghost at a Cemetery

I would love to hear your opinion on this. This was taken in Spice Valley Cemetery in Mitchell, Indiana with a Sony Cybershot. I tend to rule out someone's breath because the image doesn't come in from the edge... it appears to be a freestanding mist.- from joscottwade

Farnsworth House Inn Ghost

"I just returned from a trip to the Farnsworth House in Gettysburg. I spent the night with a friend in one of the haunted rooms. Around 12:30 last night, we were watching TV when we thought we heard someone walking in the attic, which was right above our room. We went up to the attic door and didn't hear anything. I assumed it was just an old house settling. We took a few pictures in the house before going back to our room. The remainder of the night was uneventful and we slept like babies. When I returned home this evening, I was showing my brother some pictures I took. He seemed especially interested in one, and told me to let him zoom in on one section. I didn't see anything at first, but after he pointed it out, it was quite clear. The picture was one I took from the top of the stairs looking down into the entry way of the Farnsworth House. I took this picture when we emerged from the room to search for the source of the "mysterious" foot steps. In front of the door there appears to be an arm with a rolled up white shirt sleeve. I am not sure if you would be interested, but the picture certainly caught my attention and I am an open minded skeptic."- from Beth McClain

Mayan Mysterious Phantom

"Here is a very cool picture I took at Chechen Itza of the Great Pyramid at that location. We were standing on the north side where the "stone snakes" come down: twice a year on the solstices, people gather to watch the shadow "snake" slither from the top to the bottom of the stairs. And if you stand on that side and clap your hands, you can hear this very strange, high-pitched, bird-like "ping," almost like a bullet ricochet or a bird chirp that is on fast-forward.
I was taking pictures while my family was clapping and I caught this. This is untouched and I had about 200 pictures on this camera, and this was the only one to show this form. I also checked five other cameras that my family had. Some took pictures at or very near the same time and we were standing side by side but do not show this form.
Zoom in to this picture and you can see a figure quite clearly. It looks very similar to many of the Mayan gods drawn and carved in stone. I don't know what it is. I have never seen anything before or since on that camera that makes me think it is a technical "issue" with the camera. If it is a reflection, it sure is funny; it looks like it is running on the ledge of the pyramid."
- from Clint Mason, Campbell River British Columbia

Demon in the dark

"While taking photos in our local park, I saw the strange mist in two photos. I don't know if it is something paranormal, or if it was something wrong with my camera. In this photo I captured something really weird. It looks like some ghostly face with glowing eyes to me. By the way, there are no lights or lamps in the distance; there is only a wall and the end of a park. And darkness. So I can't understand how these lights could appeared on the picture."- from Filip

Halloween Ghoul

This was taken on Halloween night, 1998 at a friend's house who puts on a show every year. Look to the right of the prop "monk," behind the white fence and under the tree branches. I don't recall seeing anybody dressed in a "ghoul mask." The host of this show also did not see anyone in a ghoul costume. It's probably someone in a costume, but who knows?- from Tony Gaudenti

Unexplained Jesus-like face

"I got this photo from my grandma, and it must be from the early 1900s. Just take a look at it! There's a mum and a dad with their child on his knee. The child died short after the photo was taken. You can see a face in profile and an angel's face in the hair of Jesus. It's really a fantastic photo, isn't it? Have you seen a similar photo?
It certainly is interesting. Could it be a double exposure or just a trick of light and shadow? Or are we looking at something paranormal?"- from Jessica Lundgren, Sweden

Ghostly Face

I took this photo about 12 years ago of pics on my lounge room wall. A little sunshine was coming in the windows. When I first picked up the photos from the pharmacy, I thought there was too much sun and it had ruined the pic. On looking through about three more times, a face seemed to jump out at me. It frightened me and I would not look at it again for some time. Now I believe it was the face of another "presence" in the room with me. The negative also shows the face, and it is even clearer on the reverse side. My family and I believe it could be the face of a baby of mine who was stillborn 25 years ago. She was encephalic and spina bifida.- from Charmaine Wright

Hat lightning

"I was wondering if you would be able to tell me what the streak of light is on the photo of my late husband. It has my signature on the bottom of it."- from Liz
I don't see a signature, but this is most unusual. I don't know if it's paranormal, but it is certainly anomalous. It doesn't appear to be any kind of reflected or smeared light. And it is not lightning in the backgound as the end of the light lies in front of the hat. Any ideas out there?

Blue Spirit Light

"I have been following the orb debate and have found that most orbs are camera artifacts, dust, snow, or rain. But no one ever gets a photo of real spirit lights -- that is what I was told they were many years ago -- that glow on their own. I have seen the lights a few times long ago, but now after my mother-in-law passed away, I have seen a blue glowing "orb" / light coming out of where we keep her ashes urn. My wife has seen it here and my sister-in-law has seen the same thing at her house, too.
It is small and bright, moves around as if it knows not to bump into things, and sometimes goes out the window, maybe to my sister-in-law's house.
A few months ago, I was at a local haunted building taking pictures and saw the same sort of thing and got a photo [above] of it before it got away. I was stunned to see that I have finally captured one."- from John Sterrett

Crescent Hotel Floating Head

"My daughters and I were standing in line to buy the tickets for the tour of the Crescent Hotel. My youngest, Adrianna, started feeling very ill. She said her head hurt and felt like she was going to vomit and almost felt faint. I told her and my oldest daughter to go and sit in the hallway in front of the elevators.
There were 3 boys that had some kind of a detector that started going crazy, and they were sure they had found a ghost. My girls were laughing at them, and I thought I would just take a picture of the calamity.
As you can see in the picture, my girls are sitting in the hallway next to the elevators. They are sitting on the floor. I can see two faces very clearly: the one skeleton-looking face looks like it has a device on its head, or maybe it's just bald. Nevertheless, you can see the wrinkles on its brow. There is a second face you can see very well to the right, and just above it there is another face that looks more skeletal, like the first one. Down below there is a burst of energy and when blown up it looks like you can see a spine with ribs.
I cannot figure out what the long jellyfish-looking thing is in the middle of the pic; it almost looks like it has a tail. There is the number 2 and maybe a 2 i or 21 down at the very botton of the picture; it blends in with my daughter's blue jeans.
As soon as we left this spot, my daughter began to feel better. We did have a weird feeling when we would approach the annex. As a matter of fact, when we pulled up to the hotel, I did get the creepiest feeling when I looked over to that area. We have never been to the Crescent before, so we knew nothing really about it."- from Vicky Martinez

Ghost in the Fixer-Upper

"About a year ago, my husband and I were looking at an old fixer-upper house that we were considering buying. I snapped the attached photo of the inside of the huge garage. Neither my husband (in the background, standing in the doorway) nor I noticed anything out of the ordinary at the time the picture was snapped. But when I downloaded the shots to my computer, we then noticed the orbs and this ghostly image. It definitely looks like a face to us, in the upper center of the photo, sort of reaching down towards the orb below it. None of the other photos I took that day had any sort of abnormality."- from Regina Durrin

Gargoyle Face

"Take a look at this and tell me what you see. I clean out houses that are foreclosed and have to take pictures before and after. This was taken in Pennsylvania two years ago. That room had gargoyle statues in it. This is in Harmony, Pennsylvania, taken in January. It was a digital camera and I did not notice any fog or smoke in the room before the picture was taken."- from Randy Graham

Sister's Spirit

"In January of 2007, my sister was very ill, and and on a Friday early morning she died. Well, we left the hospital and went back home, still in a state of shock about losing our beloved family member. Around 6 p.m. I said, "Let's all go karaoke and sing the songs our sister loved." So we went."
"When it was my brother's turn to sing, he was singing a song for her and my niece took a pic of him. When he came back, he told me that he felt a strong presence of our sister behind him. I said, "She will never leave us.""
"When the picture was developed, we were all in shock because of the image that appeared behind my brother. We all believe it was my sister saying goodbye."- from Missy Shimizu

The Icy Presence

We have been feeling some unusual icy cold spots in this living room at my daughter's home. There was absolutely no smoke or fog in the house and it was around 65 degrees. We had used some holy water, and the lady in the picture was applying some around the pictures in that corner because we felt a overwhelming prescience of something. Low and behold, we fired up something. We are using the Mavica FD88 digital camera. What do you think about it? Also we have a question regarding seeing the image of a wolf looking face in some pictures what could that mean if you have ever heard of such a thing.- from M. White

Column of Light

My husband took a bunch of photos last week and took one of the house. Although the scan lost some of the clarity of the rainbow effect, the column of light, and the large circle that seems to come just below the roof of the porch and go up into the left window. Nearly a year ago, I did smell a very strong smell of perfume there.- from Melissa

Spook on the Stairs

Here are some pictures taken recently at a house I worked in. It's a very old 4-story place that dates back to the 1850s. The woman who owns the house wouldn't give her pics, but she did let us take pics of the pics... that's what I've sent to you. I think they are the neatest thing I've ever seen.- from Mike Johnson

Wedding Dove

In September of 1999, my grandmother passed away. She desperately wanted to attend the wedding of one of my cousins, but died three months prior. In a picture my mother had taken of the bride, groom, and my grandfather (who is also a minister) with a digital camera, there is what seems to be a dove over my grandfather. My first thought was it was merely a reflection of something. I zoomed in, but couldn't find a light source.- from Jason Darr

Front Yard Enigmas

I've taken several pictures that have had strange things show up that I did not see when the pictures were taken. I live in northeast Texas. These pictures were taken in my front yard during the past year. The first was taken at night as I was attempting to photograph some strange lights, and the last in late afternoon. It may be of interest that a few old cannon balls have been found in the area, possibly from the Civil War era.- from Robin Gill

Exorcist Stairs

This photo was taken where they filmed the famous "priest falling down long-stairs" scene at the end of the movie The Exorcist in Georgetown, D.C. I know for a fact that the REAL occurrences actually happened to a little boy who lived in Mt. Rainer, Md. (not too far from Georgetown). Still I know a few people who still experience weird stuff out there at all times of the day and night.- from Myk

Ghost At Mt. Shasta

This photo was taken at the headwaters of the Sacramento river, a group of springs that form the river. Several strange occurrences have taken place here, such as healings, visions, and other psychic phenomenon. The photographer was not smoking. No one within 20 or so feet away.- From Michael O.

Sammie's Ghost

This photo that was taken Jan. 1999 of myself. All the other pictures were normal. Myself and the person who took the picture were the only two in the room at the time. I didn't know the picture was being taken, and told her to rip it up when she had them developed.- From S.

The Vortex

These photos were taken by my cousin of his roommate on the couch with his pets. They were taken almost in succession, and if you look closely, the vortex is actually moving or shifting in the pictures. His house is 225 years old located in Middleburg Va. They said they've heard only a few "unexplainable" noises since living there. I've taken pictures of "orbs" there myself.- From Ed M.

Rachel and the Farm Ghost

Here is the photo I took at our farm in Dale, Texas of my husband's daughter and a friend. It clearly looks like there is someone sitting between the girls on the swing.- From E. Roberts

Commander Vallance

At 6 a.m. on Sept. 12, 1999, through telepathy, Commander Vallance of the Orion Space Command woke me up and told me to go outside with my camera. I snapped a few photos and when I had them printed the initial and person symbol of the commander were on two photos.- from Yvonne Moore

Angel of Light

This picture is of a light form that had appeared to me in my bedroom 15 years ago. I have not seen it again but definitely feel the presence of others. I call it "my angel."- from Dawn Andres

Cloud Angel

Here is a picture I was given of a cloud formation. This is the second angel I have seen in the clouds. Amazing.- from Len Crabtree

The Swirl

Mysterious swirl on the ceiling and more photos in the series.- from Beth Bailey

The Entity

This was taken at Ft. Bliss, Texas on June 10, 1999 at my hubby's Army AIT graduation. The woman I feel was there to see a relative graduate. The ceremonies had just ended and we were on our way out. I snapped one of our daughters cheezing to the max, and when I got it back, there is the woman above and to the left of my oldest daughter, smiling too.- from Carolyn

The Misty Skull

This last Halloween I took this picture of my front yard, made up for the occasion. I do not smoke nor was there a barbecue anywhere. I can attest that there was nothing like that in my viewfinder. The freakiest part, however, you can't see in this scan - there appears to be a human eye in the left eye socket of that "scream" mask. I draped that mask over a black balloon; there was no eye there. My wife told me this place was haunted when we moved in.- from Jon Fernandez

Veiled Tombstone

I took my family to visit New York this past Christmas. In the area around Wall Street we came across Trinity Church. Next to the church is a graveyard with headstones dating back to the 1600s. I was using a disposable camera. It was a partly cloudy sky, but there was no rain, fog, or mist of any kind. The photos are not enhanced or manipulated in any way.- from J.P. Doyle

Spirit of the Lake

I am sending you the greatest ghost photo ever taken! I hope that you will consider displaying it on your site.- from Byron J. Whitesides

Bubble Angels

We took this photo on New Year's Eve, 1999 at my daughter's. We see many faces in this "bubble" when we enlarged it. Since my daughter was just recently diagnosed with MS and spent many hours praying and talking to God in this room, we can't help but feel this is a sign she is being watched over through this difficult time of her life.- from J. White

Poltergeist's Orb?

We moved here a little over a year and a half ago. We started noticing that doors would slam shut by themselves upstairs. The kitchen sink and vacuum cleaner turned themselves on and my 11-year-old daughter has been frightened by seeing doors open by themselves. My 9-month-old son wakes up screaming like he's scared to death.- from Anonymous

Little Girl Ghost

"This picture was taken at Hope Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. My daughter Anna was taking random pics and did not see the ghost until we looked at the photos. It was taken with our digital camera. We have so many evps." One is of a lilttle girl taken that night, and she says loud and clear, "Noooo! Noooo! Save me!"- from Maria

Beach Ghost walking on the stairs

"I recently went to Hawaii, where I took this picture at dawn after a luai. I took this picture when no one was around. When I got back home and after viewing the picture and blowing it up, I could see a figure riding on horse or something like that. When I showed to picture to a friend, she saw a figure walking up the stairs. I took this picture with a Sony N2 10.1 megapixel camera. I was wondering if this picture is authentic."- from lil grasshopper Hung

Mysterious Woman appears in family photo

Karen was just having an everyday family photo taken... and a ribbon of mysterious light seems to emanate from the girl's mouth. When the light ribbon is blown up, however (wait for the photo to change above), it actually proves to be the face of a blonde woman. Looking at the woman's image from left to right, her mouth appears to close then open again, as if she is talking.
Is there anyone out there who can explain what could have caused this anomaly?- from Karen Mathews

Restaurant Ghost

This was taken at an 80th birthday celebration in Berwick, Victoria, Australia about 18 months ago. It seems we had a "spectral gate-crasher" that day who decided to turn up to the celebration (an elderly, gaunt facade at top left; see circle)- from Rev. Rob Smith, Melbourne

Vacation Party Ghost

These two photos were taken in 1988 at the Hotel Vierjahreszeiten in Maurach, Austria. Several vacationers gathered for a farewell party at the hotel and decided to take a group photo. One of the party, Mr. Todd, set up is Canon film camera on a nearby table and pointed it at the group. (The table is the white band at the bottom of the photos.) He set the self-timer on the camera and hurried back to the table. The shutter clicked and the film wound forward, but the flash did not fire. So Todd set the camera for a second shot. This time the flash fired.
The film was later developed, and it wasn't until one of party members was viewing the photos that it was noticed that the first (non-flash) photo showed a somewhat blurry extra head! (In the sequence above, the second (flash) photo is actually shown first for the sake of comparison.) No one recognized the ghostly woman, and they could not imagine how her image appeared in the picture. Besides being a bit out of focus, the woman's head is also too large compared to the other vacationers, unless she is sitting closer to the camera, which would put her in the middle of the table.
The photo was examined by the Royal Photographic Society, the photographic department of Leicester University, and the Society for Psychical Research, all of which ruled out a double exposure as the cause.

Elfreth's Alley Ghost

This was taken in the historic Elfreth's Alley in Philadelphia. I was taking photos of this narrow street when I just happened to shoot into one of the backyards. There is a patio table in the photo and "sitting" at the table is what could be a ghost... possibly from this street's past. You can see the table right through it. It's not fog, rain, snow or any other kind of weather phenomenon. Tell me what you think. Do any of your readers have any stories of hauntings in Elfreth's Alley in Philly?- from Sean Newell

George Reeves "Superman"

"This one was taken at a taping of a TV show years ago. Bob [Shayne], Noel [Neill] and Jack [Larson] were there. I took a photo with Jack after the show. In the background was a statue of George in costume. When the photo enlargement came back, it had a defect that wasn't in the original... a small white dot right in George's temple where he was shot!"- from Jeff DeHart

Alton Towers Castle Ghosts

"I recently visited Alton Towers Castle in Staffordshire U.K., as I enjoy looking at the arcitecture of the buildings. As I was inside snapping away taking pictures on my camera phone, I sensed something was in front of me, so I snapped the steps on the picture. It wasn't until a few days after I was looking through the pictures that I noticed something near the steps, so I zoomed in and immediately saw what appears to be a little boy and i was completely taken aback. Then after looking at the picture more closely, I noticed a very tall man standing next to the little boy. I have shown it to several people and they are all totally amazed and have advised me to send it to a professional for advice. Granted, the quality of the picture is very poor as it was taken on my camera phone, and the lighting inside the castle is very poor, but I do genuinely believe that I have captured two spirits. Please would you give me your honest opinion on this as its been playing on my mind alot lately."- from Erika Phillips

Moundsville Ghost

"This picture was sent straight from my digital camera," writes Travis. "I took several pictures with flash on and flash off, and out of 40 I received this. My cat kept staring down the stairs and would descend a few steps then quickly run back to the top. After I observed this behavior, I took the pictures because my girlfriend has a history with the Ouija board. The downside to using the board is that who or what you're asking doesn't always call it quits after you're done using it."
"I see in the picture clearly the orange form of a person that to me looks like is holding the rail and walking up. I have not edited this in any way and I have in the past taken pictures with large orbs that were almost solid, not translucent. I live in Moundsville, West Virginia and not far from the state penitentiary, but I don't think that has anything to do with this. Just call it beginner's luck in the quest to get pictures of the other side. I just hope it isn't evil.
I have heard people say about other pictures that it was probably a finger or strap in front of the lens, but I know better. The strap was wrapped around my wrist and I've learned to keep my fingers clear when ghost hunting. I thought I would add this lastly to clear up any possible argument about obstructions or moving the camera. If it so happens to be an anomaly from where I took the picture, about 39 other pictures like it have no trace of the color from that mist."- From Travis M.

Glensheen Mansion Ghost of an elderly lady

We took a few pictures of the outside of the Glensheen Mansion in Duluth, Minnesota, and in this photo looking out of the window on the upper right it appears to look like a full apparition of an elderly lady, possibly the previous owner, Elizabeth Congdon, peering out of the window overlooking Lake Superior. This was believed to be her bedroom and the room in which she was murdered; but also doing her favorite pastime in the life she lived prior: staring out at the beautiful Lake Superior - from Gary Schmidt and Loretta Brown

Mum's Spirit at Wedding

"My mother died about a month before my niece, her granddaughter, was married. She had desperatley wanted to go to the wedding. After the service, we were standing outside the chapel and I remarked to my two aunts (mum's sisters) that I could feel her there. The group of people that you can see [in the background by the trees] are myself, my aunts and my cousins. The area that is enhanced (lower left) is just above our heads. Minutes before that, I'd sent my young cousin off to take a photo of the wedding car. My father was just walking down the hill to look at the car also. The venue of the wedding was at an historical homestead and one of my mother's favourite places. She had often remarked that she'd be happy to be buried there. It was a friend of mine who saw the photos a couple of months later, that noticed something unusual. We decided to have the image professionally enhanced and were all amazed to see my mother's face appear. The hair and bone structure are unmistakeable. My niece was very freaked out and refuses to look at the photo, but the rest of us grew up in a culture that embraces such occurences, and we love that mum made it to the wedding.
My sister thinks she can see two other faces. They are reflected in the rear window of the car. One is a woman with curly hair wearing a bonnet or shawl, and the other is just above her - a man with a beard, who looks like he's wearing a monk's hood. Can you see them?"- from Marc Savage

Gurdon Man, ghost on the Railroad Tracks

The picture noted as Gurdon Man was taken in January of 2005 in Gurdon, Arkansas. We had gone in search of one of the many spook lights that exists across the country. There is a cemetery located close to the railroad tracks. When we crossed the area of the cemetery one of my psychics told me we were being followed. I turned and took this picture. The object looks like a blue energy shaped like a man crossing the tracks.- from Alan L. Lowe

Shadow Ghosts

"Here are two shadow people. To the left, a man; center, a little girl. They are usually very fast, but they did actually stand still for me, next to me, for this one. I took it on my cell phone. Sorry it's so small, but I'm sure you guys can make it out."- from M.O.

Ghost Family of Waverly Hill Chapel

My friend Sarah had sent a picture of a possible spirit family that I had taken at Waverly Hills in September. I thought I would send this one in as well and see what you thought. It is a picture of the Chapel, it appears that there may be spirits by the doorway leading outside. We have outlined where we thought entities may be.- from Vickie DeLaMater

Graignes Ghost

While touring the Normandy beaches in the fall of 2008, my wife and I visited the cemetery and ruins of the cathedral in Graignes. I took a single photo of a marble plaque commemorating the massacre of American paratroopers and French citizens by German forces in 1944.
This was taken with a digital camera and not reviewed until we returned to Canada. Reflected in the black marble, over my right shoulder, is the grainy figure of a soldier. Interestingly, the soldier is in black and white and the photo is in colour. No one was in the cemetery but us at the time.
He appears to be in a WWI-style uniform with kepi and double row of buttons on his tunic. I have purposely not highlighted the figure.- from Tim McNamara, Standard, Alberta

Wickland House Ghost

"I took this picture at the Wickland House in Bardstown, Kentucky," reports Kyle. "It was home to three governors. I was looking down a hallway and felt like I should take the picture. My camera's flash didn't go off twice in a row and then this showed. It looks like a lady in riding clothes to me."- from Kyle Heinlein

Mysterious Street Orb captured by night surveillance camera

"At night I notice my infrared surveillance camera seeing fast streaks of flying bugs or something, but there aren't any bugs out there. Some of it must be refraction of various degrees of condensation, but others are kinda like rods or pellet-like objects. Here is a series of frames. It looks like a capsule flying off close to my porch."- from Stirling Bunnell

Strange Aparition

Jordan wrote: Okay, don't know if this worked, but I took this in Michigan, at the Paulding Light. There are lots of ne2gative speculations about what the Paulding Light could be, but this doesn't look like reflected car headlights to ME!!

Strange Ice Parade

Blocks of ice in perfect lines strung across the south end of Utah Lake. Hundreds of yards long and the same distance from each other. Not cut out by fisherman. Hundreds of blocks were in a perfect pattern. Very, very strange.- From Adam Valdez

Bird Cage Ghost

I was in bed one morning when I heard this big crash. I walked into the living room and my bird cage was pulled out of the wall. It was hung with mollys and in a stud; there was no way it could have pulled out of the wall. I took a picture because I could not believe how it was pulled out of the wall. And to my surprise, here was this man-like figure.- from Julie

Church Cat Ghost

"This is a church photo that I took with my digital camera. It was at my cousin's wedding. We were in the church waiting and I started taking pictures of the alter. My mom is in the front row. I remember taking these and there was nothing in front of me. This looks like an owl or a cat. This is the strangest thing I have ever seen and would like to have someone who knows photos to analyze it."- from John Franklin, Columbus, WI

Astral Projection Photograph

I have worked with energy all my life and I wanted to try to take a photograph of my astral body. It's difficult for most people to astral project when awake, but I knew I could push my energy out in front of myself. So, I gathered my energy at my chest, then rotated fast as I pushed my energy (astral body) in front of myself. At the point where my body stopped turning and my energy continued, I clicked the shutter as I held the camera in one hand - Copyright © Adrian Ravarour, Ph.D.
